The Cat Lady

A cat does not perform. She observes, chooses, and moves through the world entirely on her own terms. In painting cats on their own, alongside women, and even merged as women, I explore what it means to inhabit that same quiet power — to be both watchful and free, tender and untamed.

The bond between a woman and her cat is is built on intuition rather than instruction, on presence rather than explanation. I see in cats a mirror: creatures who reflect back something essential about the women they share their lives with.

My paintings bridge the space between companionship and solitude, softness and independence, the domestic and the wild. I am drawn to the mystery of beings who want to understand each other without words, but do not cling to each other.
